CNN has criticized Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump for mocking former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, but something was just uncovered that proved the network’s hypocrisy.
CNN itself mocked Machado in especially nasty fashion back in 1997.
“As her universe expanded,” correspondent Jeanne Moos wrote then, “so did she, putting on 60 pounds.”
This woman-on-woman fat-shaming got pretty rough. Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, we want to hear from you on this weighty issue.

“Former Miss Venezuela went from 188 pounds to — well — a number that kept growing like the size of a fish that got away,” the article continued.
Keep in mind, CNN was the same network that trashed Donald Trump for allegedly mocking Machado and calling her “Miss Piggy,” something no one else remembers him saying.
In an effort to take Trump down, CNN interviewed Machado Wednesday and brought up the incident that happened so many years ago.
“He was really aggressive. He was really rude.” Machado told CNN.
“That is the story that I need to share with my community. We cannot accept no more insults for my Latin community. No more insults for the women. I know very well Mr. Trump and I can see the same person that I met 20 years ago,” she continued.
Would that be the same person who admitted that he, too, eats too much when under pressure? Apparently not. That one is too big a man to fit the narrative.
Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said that Machado’s extreme weight gain was in fact a breach of contract, USA Today reported.
As much as everyone is talking about Trump’s “disgusting” and “horrible” words, no one is bringing up CNN’s article. If Trump is guilty — which he very well might not be — so are others who said similar, if not worse, things about Machado.
In fact, CNN’s treatment of Machado verges on a verbal mugging, and it’s right out there for everyone to see.
Over to you, Hillary.
