As always, the media have a habit of over-exaggerating certain stories and thus was the case with the whole Comey situation. However, they always seem to forget telling us about some of the good things President Trump does, like his most recent deal with Russia.
President Trump met early today with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. However, it was what Lavrov said after the meeting that really matters.
It seems that Russia is willing to make peace with the U.S. You read correctly. Lavrov says that Trump has overlooked his differences with Russia in order to form a concerted effort in fighting the plaguing Islamic State.
The two even agreed to finance together safe zones in Syria to slow down the refugee crisis. Practically, Sergei Lavrov is just relieved he no longer has to put up with the hostile Obama. Here’s what he told reporters:
“I would say that our dialogue as of now is free from ideology that was very typical for [Barack] Obama’s administration.
“Both Mr. Trump and the secretary of state of his administration, as I realized today once again, are businesslike people and they want to reach agreements.
“The goal of both President Trump and [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin is to have concrete results which will be tangible and which will allow us to alleviate problems, including on the international agenda.”
Well, it seems there was a constructive and diplomatic way of bringing the tensions down with Russia. This sounds a whole lot better than where the Democrats were heading with their foreign policy agenda, which was toward a global nuclear war.
