After President Trump’s big meeting with Pope Francis ended, Melania Trump started going through her own list of responsibilities and obligations, and one of them was visiting a Vatican-owned children’s hospital, while the first daughter Ivanka, met with victims of human trafficking in an event that was sponsored by Rome’s Sant’Egidio Community.
The Bambino Gesu Pediatric Hospital, which was located near the Vatican, warmly welcomed Melania. The first lady took her short visit as an opportunity to place flowers at the feet of a Marian statue at the entrance of the facility, before going inside and meeting with patients.
After that, she joined 15 child patients from 9 different countries, including Iraq –in the hospital’s library for an art session.
At last, Melania’s final stop was at the hospital chapel, where she was accompanied by a member of the board and descendant of the people who founded the hospital back in 1869, Maria Grazia Salviati.
But Melania did one thing before she left the hospital, which melted the hearts of millions and made headlines. She told the children, “Great visiting you! Stay strong & positive!” Words of wisdom – you can’t get them everywhere.

But while Melania was out at the Bambino Gesu hospital, Ivanka also had her hands full with places to be and people to see. She was in Rome’s Trastevere neighborhood, the headquarters of Sant’Egidio.
There, she discussed peace issues, the alarming situation in Africa as well as the fight against poverty and human trafficking with the Sant’Egidio leaders.
Ivanka also met with human trafficking victims, whom she called “remarkable women who are testaments to strength, faith and perseverance in the face of unspeakable adversity and challenge.”
According to reports, they spoke about their struggles and how they were able to rebuild their lives after their tragedies.
In one of her remarks after the meeting, Ivanka praised the work of Sant’Egidio:
“The work you do resonates strongly not just here, but throughout the world,” Ivanka stated.
“We talked about the many different programs that have been successfully launched and developed over many, many years now that have provided support and help to those who need it most, whether it’s the elderly or the disadvantaged, and also victims of human trafficking throughout Africa and the whole world,” – explained Ivanka. – “So it was a great privilege to be able to be here and the hear firsthand from these tremendous throughout leaders about the work that’s being done, what has worked and what has the potential to work better and to be better executed in the future.”
What do you think about this? Are you proud to have Melania and Ivanka in the White House?
