Petitioning is occurring regarding Melania Trump. Wanting her to pay her expenses for security because she still lives in New York. Funny none of the people petitioning had problems with paying for Michelle Obama’s countless vacations, numerous assistants, and her “nutrition” push. Well, it looks like it’s very important when it’s a First Lady of a Republican President.
From Western Journalism:
“Make Melania Trump stay in the White House or pay for the expenses herself,” reads the petition, which will be delivered to Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.
The Trumps have largely been living apart since President Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20 except for her visits to Washington for events and several weekends when both went to their Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
Melania Trump has remained in New York City while the couple’s son, Barron, finishes the year of school he was in last fall when his father was elected president.
When the school year ends, both Barron and his mother will be moving to the White House, aides to the first lady have announced.
However, that’s not soon enough for those signing the petition, who defend their position by pointing the cost of the security detail needed to protect Trump’s family while they live in Manhattan’s Trump Tower.
“The U.S. taxpayer is paying an exorbitant amount of money to protect the first lady in Trump Tower, located in New York City,” the supporting text reads for the Change.org petition. “As to help relieve the national debt, this expense yields no positive results for the nation and should be cut from being funded.”
New York City officials have estimated the cost of protecting Melania and Barron Trump is between $127,000-$146,000 per day.
Some experts said the issue is not just the cost, but the fact yet another Trump is flouting yet another public perception of how those in the White House are supposed to behave.
“This is an important tradition and part of the pomp and parade that is this country,” said Robert Watson, a Lynn University professor. “This is bigger than Melania and Barron and bigger than ‘The Donald.’”
However, a different approach may also signal a time to “retire an anachronistic role,” said Katherine Jellison, an Ohio University history professor. “It’s about being the wife of a high-profile man, and inadvertently she may be disassembling the role.”
The first lady signaled this week that her New York days are coming to a close.
She announced Monday the hiring of a communications director, Stephanie Grisham, who said in the first lady anticipates “a very busy upcoming week in D.C.,” this week.
Melania Trump “will be joining the president soon,” Grisham said and “focused on Barron as he finishes the school year.”

When will these people realize how hypocritical they are? Oh wait, they’re ok with it. So are their supporters. It’s all about holding people accountable for their actions, but not worrying about themselves.
