Kurt Russell is one of the good guys in Hollywood. A star since childhood, Russell has had a long and varied career as an actor.
So, when word came down that he and his partner in life Goldie Hawn would be getting stars on the Hollywood walk of Fame in a double ceremony, the only real question was, “Why didn’t they have them already?”
Hmmm… could it possibly be because of his political beliefs?
The Daily Mail recounts a story of Russell getting into it with a liberal reporter over his 2nd Amendment stance:
He said it was ‘absolutely insane’ to think gun laws would stop terrorist atrocities.
‘If you think gun control is going to change a terrorists’ point of view, I think you’re, like, out of your mind,’ he said.
The Stargate actor added: ‘The problem that we’re having right now is that we don’t have the concepts of how to turn it around.’
He went on to suggest that the best way to put off potential shooters was to make them worry more about the consequences of doing so.
The interviewer then brought up President Barack Obama’s argument put forward in the wake of the San Bernardino shooting – which saw two extremists kill 14 innocent people – that all people on ‘no-fly’ lists should be banned from buying firearms.
Russell responded: ‘They can also make a bomb pretty easily. So what? They can also get knives and stab you. What are you gonna do about that?
‘They can get cars and run you over with them. What are you gonna do about that? What are you gonna do about that?
‘So what are you gonna do? Outlaw everything? That isn’t the answer.’
The actor later said he felt ‘ambushed’ by the reporter who he believed had an ‘agenda’.
This week’s ceremony just goes to show you that you can’t keep a good man down. Even if Hollywood’s late to the party, his millions of fans have always appreciated him as the Hollywood Legend that he truly is!
Congratulations to Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn!
