We found it! The official police report behind the alleged murder of the federal prosecutor who was investigating Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s county for alleged voter fraud.  Beranton Whisenant, 38, was found dead by a beachgoer in Hollywood near Magnolia Terrace shortly before 6:30 a.m. on May 24.Detectives and a medical examiner found Whisenant had shot himself in the head, Hollywood police said.

Police searched for two blocks north and south of the crime scene but couldn’t find the gun or any other weapon.

He was assigned to the Miami office of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and been hired as the federal prosecutor a few months earlier.


Whisenant graduated from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2004 and was admitted to the Florida Bar the same year.

At the time of Whisenant’s death, Acting U.S. Attorney Benjamin Greenberg for the Southern District of Florida, said in a statement that his agency was “deeply shocked and saddened.”

“He was a great lawyer and a wonderful colleague and we will miss him deeply. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.” Greenberg said.
