The Welfare system in America has been so flawed for so long that Americans can’t remember what it’s like to work for anything. Welfare leeches have been abusing the system that was put in place to help Americans who have fallen on hard times and are struggling temporarily.
Unfortunately, many Americans have take advantage of the system in order to stock their cabinets without even having to get a job. Things are about to change now that President Trump is in office.
This past Wednesday, the Trump administration moved to bring back work requirements for anyone receiving Welfare assistance in America. This will help to reverse the Obama-era policy which encouraged states to apply for waivers.
These waivers would exempt Welfare recipients from having to show proof that they were in fact working, or in the process of training for a job. Basically, Obama was allowing the laziest of Americans (and illegals) to sit on their rears and be granted taxpayers’ money.
The Washington Times had reported that requiring work or job training was an extremely important part of the 1996 Welfare reform law that was actually signed by former President Bill Clinton. So, where did we go wrong? Former President Barack Obama’s agenda completely screwed our system.
Conservative Tribune reported:
Ohio was the only state that applied for a waiver, which was neither approved nor denied by the previous administration, according to the Associated Press. On Wednesday, the Trump administration closed the door on even the possibility the waiver would be approved by officially denying Ohio’s request, according to AP.
The Office of Family Assistance, under the Department of Human Services, issued a release advising states about the change.
“Re-emphasizing the work requirements in the welfare program means once again promoting gainful employment and economic independence as goals for every family,” the statement read.
“The waiver option offered by the Obama administration is being replaced today by an expectation that work should always be encouraged as a condition for receiving welfare,” the statement continued.
Why the Left insists that work shouldn’t be a requirement for receiving Welfare assistance is beyond me. Work should ALWAYS be a condition for anyone who is being granted government assistance. If someone is able to work, they should be willing. There are so many reasons that this requirement is important, especially because it stops people from depending solely on the government to take care of them. Welfare should be a temporary aid, not a way of life.
Unfortunately, many people in America have become entirely dependent on the program. The Welfare dependency rate must go down significantly, because there isn’t enough taxpayers’ dollars left to fund it.
President Trump has been taking some huge strides in making America great again, and fixing our mangled Welfare system is definitely one of them. The Left will complain about these new Welfare rules and regulations, but the truth is, we really need these stipulations in place.
It’s sickening to hear stories of people completely abusing the system. The worst part is when they brag about it. No one should be proud of mooching off our government. The abuse of Welfare in our country has got to come to and end now.
Anyone who is able to work should be out there doing their best to make a living. Let’s hope President Trump can significantly reduce the amount of Welfare leeches in our country.
