Hillary Clinton never misses a chance to capitalize on a tragedy. As Hurricane Matthew threatened to wreak historic havoc on Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas, the career politician quickly bought up the bulk of available ad time on the Weather Channel. What she did next was even more cold-hearted and disgusting.
Before Hurricane Matthew, there was Hurricane Hermine. Instead of offering words of comforts to victims, Hillary turned the natural disaster into a political football and blamed it on one of the greatest “threats” to America: “climate change.”
“When it comes to protecting our country against natural disasters and the threat of climate change, once again, Donald Trump is totally unfit and unqualified,” Hillary Clinton said at one of her recent, sparsely attended rallies. “Another threat to our country is climate change. 2015 was the hottest year on record, and the science is clear: it’s real, it’s wreaking havoc on communities across America. Last week’s hurricane was another reminder of the devastation that extreme weather can cause.”
Knowing Donald Trump is not a frantic climate change fanatic like all liberals are, she decided the damage done by Hurricane Hermine (and likely, by later today, Hurricane Matthew too) on climate change—and by extension Donald Trump. Unfortunately for Hillary, her vile attempt to politicize a tragedy was not based even remotely on fact.
Scientists and weather experts have been discussing the “hurricane drought” for almost two years. While there have been hurricanes, the number of the weather incidents and intensity of the storms have been on a vast decline since 1985. So much for her climate change argument.
“This is not the last one that’s going to hit Florida given what’s happening in the climate…If it affects people who lose their homes or their businesses that took a lifetime to build, it doesn’t matter to him,” Hillary Clinton also said. Yet, Trump is the one that shows up at disasters with trucks full of supplies and donates to local charities to help these victims. What has Hillary done?
The appearance of Hurricane Hermine marked the end of 127 months since a “major hurricane” made landfall in the continental United States, noted the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Hurricane Research Division. The hurricane drought we are currently experiencing happens about only once every 177 years, according to the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies report, “Frequency and Duration of U.S. Hurricane Droughts.”
As bad as Hurricane Matthew has been so far, it has not been the intense disaster some had feared. Thankfully, only one life has been tragically lost since Matthew moved near the Florida coast. Property damage has also been minimal to this point.
All that could change as Hurricane Matthew moves to more sensitive beach areas in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, especially since it is supposed to hit at high tide and create up to 12 foot water swells. However, the winds of Hurricane Matthew have decreased since causing a wave of destruction in Haiti, the Bahamas, and Cuba.
There have been hurricanes, and there always will be, but the natural disasters have not been more frequent or destructive because of the weather fluctuations liberals refer to as climate change. The weather, as much as Hillary Clinton would like to think otherwise, is NOT Donald Trump’s fault!
